Request your articles on recent Indian conflicts

Soon we are going to be putting together the new edition of the Asia Lutheran. The first edition of the year will come out in March and we would like to write an article covering the situation of Indian Christians and the increased violence they have been experiencing in recent months. We would like to cover this objectively and to hear the viewpoints from our page readers. We would like to request you to write an article to help us in this endeavor.

We need to know:

1. Your opinion of the situation. What do you feel were the reasons behind the attacks? Were there social or economic factors involved, or was it purely religious?
2. Are there any possible solutions which you feel would be effective and fair?
3. What was the reaction of the people in your church to the news of the violence? What was the atmosphere of the community around you?
4. What news or information do you have about the situation? Especially news which we might not have heard from other sources.
5. What is happening in other areas of India. We hear about the violence in Gujarat and in Orissa, but what is the situation like in other parts of the country?
6. What is your opinion or the opinion of the people around you of the work missionaries or evangelistic arms of the church are doing in India? What do you feel about the subject of "conversion" in light of the recent occurrences?

Thank you so much for helping us! As far as the articles are concerned, we would like them to be around 1000 words in length.. Please send a straight-on photograph of yourself, or the person who wrote the article, and if appropriate, please send other photographs. If you need the photo returned, please state so in your correspondence. Unfortunately we cannot pay any compensation for the articles you send, however, we will send you up to five free copies of the Asia Lutheran at your request. Please indicate in your correspondence how many you would want.

We will need all articles by March 1. If you can get materials to us sooner, it would be a great help to us! You can contact us by letter, fax or e-mail. Please note the information below when sending your material to us. We need everyone working together to make the Asia Lutheran a publication of, by, and about Asian Lutheran Christians.
