With heartfelt thanks, the writers acknowledge the support provided by the following people: Rev. Richard and Mrs. Sandy Nelson of the Japan Lutheran Church, Bjorn Christenson, Karen Young Iwamoto for the layout design, Tom Witt for sharing his music, as well as the support of the International Lutheran Layman's League, Home Office of the Japan Lutheran Hour in St. Louis, Mo., U.S.A. and the encouragement given by visitors to the office when meetings were being held. Various churches also provided financial help both in Japan and in the U.S.A., and this is also acknowledged.
The permission given by the Japan Bible Society to use verses from the New Interconfessional Translation, 1987, is also acknowledged. The English Bible verses are from the TEV translation published by the American Bible Society. Scripture quotations cited as TEV are taken from the Today's English Version (TEV) 1966, 1971, 1976 American Bible Society. Used with permission.
Barry W. Mouat, the Jesus Investigation Committee
The Japan Lutheran Hour would also like to express gratitude and sincere thanks to Barry Mouat, John Plagens and Karin Semler for their long commitment to this project and continued support. We appreciated the committee member痴 hard work as well as the many volunteers, too numerous to name here, who together created this new approach for English Bible study.
It has taken more than three years to complete the text and CD, and we hope the general Japanese English learner will gain confidence in his or her studies with our text. We also hope each reader will send his or her reactions to the Japan Lutheran Hour or to his or her teacher which will enable us to make revisions for future editions.
